Tried and Tested Home of Precision Production and Development
Established in 1966, Janton Engineering Works is based in Springs,
Gauteng, but service the whole of South Africa.
We are the tried and tested home of Precision Production and Development Engineering for the past 54 years. Janton uses the latest CNC Equipment and Denel rates us as a Preferred Service Provider.
We offer precision engineering services such as CNC Milling and Turning, Wire and Spark Erosion, Laser Profiling, CNC Bending, Surface and Cylindrical Grinding, Tool, and Cutter Grinding and Broaching. Whether it is production or development, we can supply full measurement certificates of the work done. In January 2020 we became part of the Logidist Group as a Development and Manufacturing entity.
The Logidist Group owns 60% shares in Janton. Logidist is a 100% Black Owned diversified Industrial Investment Group of Companies.
Janton Engineering Works was started in a garage in Wright Park, Springs by 2 brothers, Jan and Tony Schaap. Soon the garage became too small and in 1966, the brothers moved into a little workshop in Geduld Extension, Springs. Jan decided to move back to the Netherlands and Tony carried on with the business. Soon he had ARMSCOR, Union Carriage, Boart Hard Metals, Van Leer and a few smaller Companies for customers. The Business grew and soon they had to move on to bigger premises in Nuffield, Springs.
In 1996 Martin took over the Company when Tony passed away. At this time, Martin started replacing the machinery with CNC’s and Janton went from strength to strength once again. At this stage, some of our customers were DENEL Land Systems, David Brown, Alfa International, Vanda, Le Cell, Hausler Instrumentation, Widney, lmfuyo Projects, Boat International, and Trident Steel.
Janton was instrumental in developing bonding machinery for Trico, a company that manufactured the new age wiper blades for vehicles, and also in developing a revolutionary new holder for cutting and polishing diamonds for the Canadian Government.
THE FUTURE AT
Janton is striving to maintain its Preferred Supplier Status with the key role players in the Defence industry along with Automotive, Civil and Fabrication industries.
Due to our extensive experience with Apprentice Training, we would like to continue with that and make Matriculants aware that there is a career in Toolmaking.
A skill and career field that, unfortunately, is experiencing a shortage of skilled Artisans in South Africa!
We would also like to maintain our presence in the Humanitarian and Education sectors and keep making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than us.
